She departed this life on Saturday, November 6, 1993 at her residence in Yonkers, New York. She was the daughter of Mrs. Helen Hawes Sutton and the late Willie Sutton. She attended C.T. Walker Elementary School, A.R. Johnson Middle School and was a 1968 graduate of Lucy Laney High School and a 1972 graduate o f Savannah State College. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until moving to New York. In New York, she united with the Community Baptist Church. On December 7, 1984, she joined in marriage to Terrance McElroy. She was employed as Managing Editor for R.R. Bowker Publishing Company in Summit, New Jersey for twenty-one years. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, American Bookfellers Association and Role Model Coalition of 100 Black Women. Her survivors are: a loving husband, Terrance McElroy, Yonkers, N.Y.; mother, Mrs. Helen H. Sutton, Augusta, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Gwendolyn S. Robinson, Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Willie Leroy Sutton, Augusta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Simon Robinson, Atlanta, Ga.; mother-in-law, Maijorie Wilson, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; stepson, Terrance McElroy, Jr., Yonkers, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Toni Mosley, Yonkers, N.Y.; niece, Monica McDonald; three nephews, Brian Sutton, Jason Sutton and Clyde Sutton, all of Augusta, Ga.; five aunts, Mary H. Jones and Ella Hamp, Augusta, Ga., Melba Nunally and Arlesia Hawes, Lincolnton, Ga. and Dorothy Marrero, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; six uncles, Herman Hawes and Mark Belcher, Hampton, Va., Joe Otis Hawes, Lonnie Hawes, and Peyton Hawes of Lincolnton, Ga., and Albert Sutton, Macon, Ga.; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
