On Monday, June 19,1995, the angel of death visited the Wills Memorial Hospital of Washington, Georgia and took Luther Mahoney, Sr. home. He was born February 18, 1929 to the late Earnest & Julia Mahoney. 
He joined the Rocky Mount Baptist Church at an early age. Luther was not a person of many words but felt his feelings and belief would be better remembered by his actions. 
He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Catherine Mahoney of Washington, Georgia; three sons, Rev. Luther Mahoney, Jr. of Elberton, Georgia, Eathel Mahoney of Colum bia, S.C. and Paul Mahoney of Washington, Georgia; four daughters, Louise Owens, of Washington, Georgia, Dorothy Jenkins of McCormick, S C., Luevanda Coleman of Atlanta, Georgia and Yvonne Dawson of Savannah, Georgia; three daughters-in-law, Gwendolyn, Rockie, and Brenda; two sons-in-law, Sgt. Arnold Dawson and Johnny Jenkins. A very loyal and devoted friend, Mr. Robert Mahey; eight sisters, Josephine Hill, Allen Quinn, Elease Harris, Annie Crew, Robbie Feugoson, Barbara Randall, all of Washington, Georgia, Marjoree Elam of Lincolnton, Georgia and Mattie Jenkins of Tampa Florida; eight brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, one Uncle Hogan Moore, one Great Aunt Fannie Ware, fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
