Mahoney was born in Lincoln County, Georgia, March 10, 1927. On Sunday, September 27, 1981, the Angel of Death visited Bro. Mahoney in the quiet of the morning and took his soul back to the God that gave it. He was the son of the lateBudd and Elizabeth Mahoney. He was a member of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was united into Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Nellie Pearl Dye and to this union six children were born. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Pearl Mahoney, Lincolnton, Ga.; one daughter, Miss Melissa Mahoney, Lincolnton, Ga.; five sons, Mr. Sylvester Mahoney, Tignall, Ga., Mr. Larry Mahoney, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Mr. John Mahoney, Mr. Clarence Mahoney, and Mr. Willie Mahoney, all of Lincolnton, Ga.; one sister Miss Clara Mahoney, Miami, Fla., a daugher-in-law, Mrs. Beatrice Mahoney, Tignall, Ga., one aunt, Mrs. Viola Bradley, Tignall, Ga., two grandsons, Neil and Jeffrey Mahoney, both of Tignall, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
