Dr. Sam Davis, Pastor Obituary Edna Parker Lyons, was bom October 10, 1922, to the union of the late Howard and Mary Parker. She was the eleventh child bom to this union, all of whom preceded her in death. P I At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She later united with Beulah Grove Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She was educated in Richmond County Public Schools, and later married James B. Lyons. To this union was bom a son Bruce, and later she gave 11birth to a daughter, Dwala. Edna was employed with the Veteran's Administration Hospital Canteen Department where she received numerous awards for dedicated service. She retired after 31 years. Following retirement she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. This she called giving flowers while she lived. Cakes, pies and all sorts of dishes were her specialty. These were the dishes of "Love" enjoyed by many. Those left to cherish her memories, son, Bruce (Sandra) Lyons, Mechanicsville, MD; daughter, Dwala (Clinton, Sr.) Walker, Augusta, GA; five grandchildren, Kimberly (John) Watkins, Stone Mountain, GA; Katharine Walker, Alpharetta, GA; Kysha (Dwayne) Garrett, Huntsville, AL; Clinton Walker, Jr., Augusta, GA; Christopher Lyons, Mechanicsville, MD; nine great grandchildren, Morgan Mixon, Joshua Kerr, Michael, Mikala and Malacah Watkins, Brandon Walker, Christian, Kingsley and Camille Garrett, sister, Rose E. Cummings, Augusta, GA and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. O ur Mother Dearest Mother - Mom you are the love of our lives. You raised us to be responsible, respectful, loving and giving people. You showed us love and taught us how to treat others. You always stressed that it was important to be beautiful on the inside not just the outside. We will miss your wisdom and advice. Your home cooking was like no other and until we see you again - This is not good-bye, but see ya! Love, Bruce and Dwala. You are gorgeous, beautiful, and fabulous adding luster to your fame. You shared our joy with your wonderful laughter and always cheered us when were sad. You darling grandmother, were the greatest friend, a grand child could ever have. We love you. We never thought the day would come when we would be without you, although we know you're in a much better place now it's still hard to accept. We can still smell your cooking; taste your candied yams and sweet potato pies. You shared words of wisdom and were always ready to share whatever you had even the clothes on you back. The day you went to heaven you took pieces of our hearts. We hope God is enjoying your company. We love you.
