Thou hast been faithful over a few things. I -will make thee ruler over many. Enter thou into the joys ofthe Lord. That welcomed voice came to Bro. Prince A. Lewis at his residence on Sunday morning, November 26, 1995 at 8:00 a.m. With the desire of his heart answered, he entered the "joys of the Lord". He was bom October 26, 1918 to the late Alex and Leora Lewis in Jenkins County, Georgia. At an early age, he was converted, baptized and fellowshipped at St. John Baptist Church in Millen, Georgia. After moving to Augusta, he joined Thankful Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. N. T. Young, Sr. At Thankful, he was a "doorkeeper" - serving with dignity and dedication on the Usher Board until his health failed. Although he could no longer usher, he remained on the Board and was always interested in and a part of the activities of the Board. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with honor. Bro. Lewis was a Barber by profession. He treasured the many friendships that he made during the years with his many patrons. Those who shared the days of his life with him and cherish fond memories are: two brothers, Alex Lewis, Augusta, GA and Rufus Lewis, Macon, GA; four sisters, India Brady, Millen, GA, Henrietta Williams, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Annie Mae Walker, Millen, GA and Juanita Seals, Macon, GA; three sisters-in-law, Louise Lewis and Pauline Lewis, Augusta, GA and Mildred Lewis, Macon, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
