WATER BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCH ** OBITUARY * * On Thursday, March 14, 1991, God called his beloved child, Deacon James Johnson, Sr., home from his labor to his reward. James Johnson was born in Columbia County in the given year of 1927. He was the son of the late Hattie Douglas and the late Steve Johnson. He joined the Water Branch Baptist Church at an early age and was ordained as a Deacon. He served faithfully in this capacity until his health failed. He was a member ot the Deacon s Union of Georgia, President of Club #1, Superintendent of Sunday School and Secretary of the Deacon Board. He was united in Holy Wedlock to Miss Clara Holland. It) this union four children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory a beloved wife, Mrs. Clara Johnson, Harlem, Ga.; three sons, James Johnson, Jr., Harlem, Ga., Marion Johnson, Hephzibah, Ga. and George Mobley, Augusta, Ga.; two daughters, Brenda Johnson, Harlem, Ga. and Wanda Thompson, Harlem, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Annie W. Johnson, Hephzibah, Ga.; one brother, Robert Johnson, Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren, nine brothers-in-law, eleven sisters-in-law, three uncles, four aunts; a devoted nephew, Steiner Sturgis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ** O R D ER OF SE R V IC E ** Rev.
