JOHN BAPTIST CHURCH I OBITUARY Mattie Lee Whigham Jackson was bom on April 15, 1915 to the late Plezen and Mattie Lee Smith Whigham, in Emanuel County, Georgia. She completed her formal high school education in Wadley, Georgia. She married the late Fred M. Jackson on January 18, 1937 in Jefferson County, Georgia. They moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1941 where she lived a long and wonderful life. She made her transition on February 16, 2010, at home with her loving family. From this union eight children were born. She was a devoted wife, mother, and dedicated her entire life to rearing, nurturing, and educating her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was well respected for her commitment to the Tatemville Community. She was preceded in death by her husband and three children: Gwendolyn J. McMillan, Louise J. White and Fred E. Jackson. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, Daughters: Mattie F. Jackson (Alfred) Gray of Greenville, SC., Dazola Jackson Belle and Cynthia Jackson Formey of Savannah, GA, Sons: John A. Jackson, Forest Park, GA and Cyrus J. Jackson (Brenda) of Fayetteville, GA; Grandchildren: John Wesley, IV and Sonya McMillan, Jeffery and Brian Gray, Katrina B. (Juan) Aponte, Jonise and Kamaria Jackson, Khadija and Akiya Jackson, Turkesha Mclvy, Dionne and Christopher Formey; Great Grandchildren: John Wesley, V, Jordie and Jarvis McMillan, Maite and Christiana Aponte, Kamden Tift, Brian and Billy Whitfield and Mario Mclvy. She leaves six siblings: Ola Mae W. Curtis, Raybun (Blanche) Whigham of Augusta, GA, Beatrice W. W. Shareef, Hubert Whigham of Atlanta, GA, Annetta W. Wright of Conyers, GA and Gladys W.
