He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, 1 will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And has shed His own blood for my soul. Refrain My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought My sin not in part, but the whole Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! Refrain THE HOLY GOSPEL John 14:1 -6 [{Pew Bible, p. 83, NT} HOMILY The Very Reverend Charles L Fischer III THE APOSTLES CREED [Book of Common Prayer, p. 496] / believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. 4 He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE [Book of Common Prayer, p. 497] For our sister Richelle, let us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ who said, "I am Resurrection and I am Life." Lord, you consoled Martha and Mary in their distress; draw near to us who mourn for Richelle and dry the tears of those who weep. Hear us, Lord. You wept at the grave of Lazarus, your friend; comfort us in our sorrow. Hear us, Lord. You raised the dead to life; give to our sister eternal life. Hear us, Lord. You promised paradise to the thief who repented; bring our sister to the joys of heaven. Hear us, Lord. Our sister was washed in Baptism and anointed with the Holy Spirit; give her fellowship with all your saints. Hear us, Lord. She was nourished with your Body and Blood; grant her a place at the table in your heavenly kingdom. Hear us, Lord. Comfort us in our sorrows at the death of our sister; let our faith be our consolation, and eternal life our hope. 5 THE PEACE CHOIR ANTHEM [The St. Pauls Choir ] Total Praise, Richard Smallwood THE HOLY COMMUNION [Book of Common Prayer, p. 361] It is right, and a good and joyful thing... ... and with all in the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name: Holy, holy, holy, holy, holy Lord, God of hosts, Heaven and earth are filled with your glory Hosanna in the highest. Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; Therefore let us keep the feast. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. COMMUNION ANTHEM [The St. Pauls Choir ] The Majesty and Glory of Your Name", Tom Fetke COMMUNION HYMNS On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand, LEVAS II, No. 99 My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand, All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In evry high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil. Refrain His oath, His covenant and blood, Support me in the whelming flood; When all around my soul gives way, he then is all my hope and stay. Refrain When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found; Dressed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne. Refrain How Great Thou Art, LEVAS II, No. 60 0 Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds thy hands have made, 1 see the stars I hear the rolling thunder, Thy powr throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art! When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees, When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur, And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze. Refrain And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Send him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Refrain When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God how great thou art. Refrain POST COMMUNION PRAYER [Book of Common Prayer, p. 498] Almighty God, we thank you that in your great love you have fed us with the spiritual food and drink of the Body and Blood of your Son Jesus Christ, and have given us a foretaste of your heavenly banquet Grant that this Sacrament may be to us a comfort in affliction, and a pledge of our inheritance in that kingdom where there is no death, neither sorrow nor crying, but the fullness of joy with all your saints; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen. 8 THE COMMENDATION [Book of Common Prayer, p. 499] PRIEST: Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints, PEOPLE: where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. People: Give rest, 0 Christ, to your servant with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting. PRIEST: Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Richelle. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming.
