Abney BENEDICTION RECESSIONAL INTERMENT-- Bellville Memorial Gardens WILLIAM FRANKLIN HICKSON William Franklin Hickson, 57, Itinerant Teacher Train er in Agriculture at South Carolina State College, died early Friday morning, November 19, at the Columbia Hospital fol lowing a chronic illness of several months. Deacon Hickson was born and grew up in Aiken County. He attended the Academy at South Carolina State College, then went on to receive baccalaureate and master's degree there. He worked for several years in the public schools of Aiken and Chesterfield Counties before joining the faculty at South Carolina State College in 1949. He was active in many civic, religious, and educational organizations and only recently was honored for 30 years of outstanding service to the New Farmers of America. He was Chairman of the Deacon Board of New Mt. Zion Church. He held Life Membership in the American Vocation al Association, and was affiliated with the National Vocation al Agricultural Teachers Association, National Education Asso ciation, Palmetto Education Association, the American Asso ciation of Teacher Educators in Agricultural Education, and the American Association of University Professors. He was a Mason and a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Nina E. Hickson; one son, Dr. W. F. Hickson, Jr., of Denmark and Orangeburg; one brother, Glover M. of Aiken; five sisters, Mrs. Lucile H. Brown of Aiken; Mrs. Mary H. Whittaker of Augusta; and Mrs. Ivory S. Watkins, Mrs. Evelyn H.
