JESSIE M. HICKS (GRANNY) was born on June 15, 1920 in Burke County, Georgia to the late Floyd Turner and Minnie Garvin. She was educated at Burke County High School. She worked most of her life as a Food/Dietician Service worker until she retired at Gracewood State School and Hospital. Jessie (Granny) dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. On October 4, 1939, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Walter Hicks (Daddy Doc) or (Doc) as Jessie called him. In this union were born two children, Minnie Winfrey and Georgia Clanton. Jessie (Granny) was preceded in death by her daughter, Minnie Winfrey and her grandson, James Clanton, Jr. Jessie (Granny) leaves behind to cherish her memory: Walter (Doc) her beloved husband; a daughter, Georgia Clanton; two son-in-laws, James Clanton and John Henry Winfrey; one sister, Margaret Rouse; ten (10) grandchildren; twenty (20) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
