At an early age she joined the St. Thomas Grove Baptist Church where she served until the end. She was a member of the Charity Aid Club of New Ellenton, S. C Survivors are her husband, Robert James (R. J.) Hankerson of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Philadelphia, Pa.; one son, Berry Jones, Philadelphia, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Green and Mrs. Betty Williams of New Ellenton, S. C., and Mrs. Edna Mae Spikes, Pompano Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Mr. Jenious Hay, New Ellenton, S. C., Mr. Robert Hay, Pahokee, Fla., and Charlie Hay, Windsor, S. C.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Hankerson, New Ellenton, S.C.; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Mae Holmes, Aiken, S. C., Mrs. Mary Riley and Mrs. Julia Mae Hankerson of Augusta, Ga., Mrs Betty Hay, Pahokee, Fla., and Mrs. Hattie Hay, Williston, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lester Green, New Ellenton, S. C.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. George Gene Jones, Philadelphia, Pa.; and one son-in-law, Horace Williams, Philadelphia.
