Nettie Hay, daughter of the late Cater and Mary Ann Young Hay, was born July 10, 1914, in Barnwell County, South Carolina, and entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 30, 1980, at her home. 
At an early age she joined the St. Thomas Grove Baptist Church where she served until the end. 
She was a member of the Charity Aid Club of New Ellenton, S. C 
Survivors are her husband, Robert James (R. J.) Hankerson of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Philadelphia, Pa.; one son, Berry Jones, Philadelphia, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Green and Mrs. Betty Williams of New Ellenton, S. C., and Mrs. Edna Mae Spikes, Pompano Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Mr. Jenious Hay, New Ellenton, S. C., Mr. Robert Hay, Pahokee, Fla., and Charlie Hay, Windsor, S. C.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Hankerson, New Ellenton, S.C.; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Mae Holmes, Aiken, S. C., Mrs. Mary Riley and Mrs. Julia Mae Hankerson of Augusta, Ga., Mrs Betty Hay, Pahokee, Fla., and Mrs. Hattie Hay, Williston, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lester Green, New Ellenton, S. C.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. George Gene Jones, Philadelphia, Pa.; and one son-in-law, Horace Williams, Philadelphia. Pa.; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
