NEPHEWS FLOWER BEARERS NIECES Obituary We have come together today from various occupations at the call of death, and event that is constantly occuring around us; and within the range of our families, acquaintances and church members. MR. RICHARD GRIFFIN, a son of Mrs. Mamie Z. Etheredge Griffin and the late Mr. Elijah Griffin was bom in Saluda County, SC, on January 13,1935. He departed this life Friday Morning, October 7,1994 in Saluda County from injuries sustain in a car/truck accident. He received his education in the public schools of Saluda County where he was a 1954 graduate of Rosenwald High School. He was a member of the Pine Pleasant CME Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietman Wars and a member of the National Guard Company B 122nd Engineer Battalion, Batesburg, SC. Richard was employed by Georgia Pacific as a machine operator. We are sadden by the sudden demise of our loved one, but we are praying that someday we will meet again on that beautiful shore. He leaves to cherish his fond memories; his wife, Jean B. Griffin, Batesburg, SC; his mother, Mamie Z. Griffin, Saluda, SC; one daughter, Monica Hinton, Clarksville, TN; two sons, Ricky J. Abney, Washington, DC, Richard D. Griffin, Clarksville, TN; five step daughters, Ave Maria Roland, Batesburg, SC, Barbara J. Matthews, Columbia, SC, Sandra Mayfield, Charleston, SC, Joy Hoosier and Bonitta Johnson both of Clarksville, TN; four stepsons, Charles Matthews, Baltimore, MD, Kerano Pardue, Clarksville, TN, Keith and Vince Pardue of Hablack, NC; two sisters, Liza M. Griffin, Washington, DC, and Mamie Jones, Columbia, SC; three brothers, Peter Griffin and Raymond Griffin both of Saluda, SC, Earl Griffin, St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ella B. Etheredge, Batesburg, SC; one son-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; four aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
