A s one reflects upon the life o f Rev. Pr. Roosevelt Green, Jr., i t becomes apparent the he consistently displayed a very strong belief in the importance o f education. His personal ideology was one th a t communicated th a t each individual had a responsibility to develop his o r her innate skills to the fullest extent possible. Relieving th a t ones life could be appreciably enhanced through education, he spent m ost o f his a d u lt life s thriving to become highly educated and more and more analytical about m ajor social conditions th a t a ffe c t the qu ality o f people's lives. Whether he was functioning as a sociology o r social work professor, o r caseworker, casework supervisor o r a m inister, his goal was to inspire persons to select and diligently apply themselves to the achievement o f im portant goals. His own life reflects his deep com m itm ent to these objectives. Early in his p u rs u it o f excellence, he earned a Bachelor o f Science Degree from Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. Choosing the m inistry as the mechanism to communicate his love o f God and commitment to mankind, he earned two m asters degrees: a M aster o f D ivinity Degree and a M a ste rs Degree in Social Work from Morehouse School o f Religion and the University o f Georgia respectively. He earned a D octor o f Philosophy Degree in Community Systems Planning and Deveiopment from the Pennsylvania S ta te University. Dr. Green functioned as p a s to r a t several churches in Georgia and Pennsylvania including Macedonia B a p tis t Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and S a in t Paul A frican M ethodist Episcopal Church in Beliefonte, Pennsylvania.

We h ad a weeklyjourney to the corner sto re to g e t some sw eets

Sometimes on Saturdays, he would cu t the grass Then take some church members to piay b-baii, or teach a
