GRAY 18 October 1941 - 23 November 2011 General Gray is a native of Algoma, West Virginia. He was born of the union of Lloyd Gray Sr. and Hattie B. Parker Gray on 18 October 1941. He graduated from Elkhorn High School at Elkhorn WV. in 1959. He later attended and graduated from THE" Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer and Information Science. He was awarded a Masters of Military Arts and Sciences Degree from the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He is a graduate of the National Security Seminar at Harvard University. In May of 1966. upon his graduation from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. General Gray was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Signal Corps. He is a graduate of the Signal Officer Advance Course, the Command and General Staff College, the United States Army War College, the Joint War Fighting Course for General Officers and a Senior Fellow at the Joint Forces Staff College. His most significant career assignments have been: Signal Olticer, 56th Field Artillery Group (Pershing); Commander, Company C, 97th Signal Battalion; Commander, Company A, 501st Signal Battalion; 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault); Plans and Operations Officer. Directorate of Security, Defense Intelligence Agency; Executive Officer, 50th Signal Battalion (Airborne Corps); Chief, Readiness Command Plans Branch. General Gray's awards and Decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal (2nd OLC), Legion of Merit (2nd OLC), Bronze Star, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Na- tional Defense Service Medal (2nd OLC); Vietnam Service Medal (4th OLC); several foreign awards, Army Staff Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge. General Gray retired as Deputy Commander In Chief, U. S. Army Europe and Seventh Army on 1 August 1997. At the time of his death General Gray was serving as Presi- dent and CEO of Gray Consultants Incorporated. He is survived by his wife. Annie, three children, seven grandchildren, his mother, two sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and friends.
