Beulah G rove B aptist C hurch Reverend Dr. Sam Davis ~ O fficiatinq ~ Tfie 06ituary "I have fought a good fight. 1 have finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown o f righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day." ~ II Timothy 4:7-8 Mr. Leroy Cjordon, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the age of 84. He had a full and faithful life. Leroy was born in Appling, Georgia on October 1, 1921, to the late Johnny and Maggie Glover Gordon. He moved to Augusta at a young age and met the love of his life, Bertell Williams. Leroy joined the armed services in October of 1942, and served in World War II through January of 1946. Upon discharge, he returned to marry his sweetheart Bertell. They joined in matri mony on February 4, 1946. Leroy began a lifelong career as a brickmason. "Roy" was well known throughout the community because of his masonry skills and his willingness to serve others. He was loved by all because he was a friend to all. He never hesitated to help those in need. Roy was a devoted member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church and attended regularly until his health declined. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 60 years, Bertell Gordon; three daughters, Linda Parks and Theresa Veasley, A u gusta, GA and Beverly Holland, Stone Mountain, GA; one son, Dr. Anthony (Tammie) Gordon, Athens, GA; one sister, Dollie Garnett, Augusta, GA; one brother-in-law, John W. Byrd, Sr., Akron, OH; two sisters-in-law, Alice Williams, Augusta, GA and Louise Williams, Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Sherri (Craig) Madison, Gilbert, AZ, Dr. Adrienne (Rodney) Evans, Charlotte, NC, Milton L. Veasley, II, Augusta, GA and Alicia Thompson, Atlanta, GA; five great grandchildren, Emily N. Madison, Jacob D. Madison, Jaien A. Evans, Justin I. Evans and Ke'Aundre M.
