Gordon was born in Waynesboro, Georgia to Robert and Rebecca Brinkley Davis, on December 4, 1917. She passed to a higher calling on May 18, 1996. Her preparation for that calling began when she joined Thankful Baptist Church in Waynesboro, as a youth. She served faithfully in Thankful in various capacities including, but not limited to, President of the Senior Choir, Superintendent of the Sunday School, Directress of the Junior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Baptist Young Peoples Union and Church Clerk for over 40 years, until her health failed. She also served as a teacher in the Walker Baptist Association. She was initially married to John H. Ruffin, Sr., and two children were bom of this union, John H. Ruffin, Jr., Augusta, and Sarah E. Ruffin who predeceased her. She later married General G. Gordon and two children were bom of this marriage, Jeanette Gordon, Augusta and Shirley Gordon Brady, Waynesboro. In addition to being survived by her three children, Anna L Gordon is survived by Fannie F. Wimberly and her husband and children, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Judith Ruffin, daughter-in-law, Augusta, Thomas Brady, son-in-law, Waynesboro, eight grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
