He was born July 16, 1917 in Columbia County, GA to the late Mr. & Mrs. Edmond (Daisy Leverett) Garnett. Red as he was affectionately known, confessed Christ at an early age and joined with the Lampkin Grove Baptist Church of Appling, GA where he served faithfully as a Deacon. He was educated in the Columbia County School System and had lived in Columbia County all of his life. After thirty six years, he retired with Civil Service at Ft. Gordon. In August of 1942 (Red) entered the U.S. Army and served proudly until he was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a former member of the Columbia County Fire Department and the Georgia Cattle Association. On November 12, 1948 he joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Ludell Williams Garnett and to this union seven wonderful children were bom. Left to cherish his memories are: a loving , caring, and devoted wife for over 53 years, Mrs. Ludell W. Garnett of Appling, GA; four sons, Page Garnett and Edmond (Melissa) Garnett of Appling, GA, Thomas (Juanita) Garnett of Graniteville, SC, Daniel Garnett of Anchorage, Alaska; three daughters, Sara Thompkins, Hephzibah, GA, Mary Garnett of Appling, GA, Tina (Lemithes) Germany of Evans, GA; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three brothers, Willie (Eunice) Garnett and Bertha Garnett of Appling, GA, Willard Garnett (Mozelle) of Los Angeles, CA; five sisters, Wilhemenia Garnett and Margurite (Cleuese) Bowdre of Appling, GA, Amanda Brooks of Evans, GA, Louise (Timothy) Dent of Palmdell, CA, Daisy (Johnny) Dunn of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Frances Williams of Appling, GA and Louise Luke of Jacksonville, FL; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. emones In loving M emory o f THOMAS GARNETT Sunrise July 16, 1917 Sunset February 24, 2002 God saw you were getting tired And a cure was not to be, So he put his arms aroundyou And whispered, "Come to me. I miss your laugh, your voice, your brown hat, and that blue and black jacket you wore all the time. I know you don't want to come back to this problemed world, but I wish you could come back for just one day. I know one day I'll see you again. I know that day will be a great day. Until then, I will miss you, I Love you, Granddaddy, your spirit will always be in my heart.
