Johnson and Ardell Irby Johnson. From 1943 to 1945 she served in the Armed Forces WWAC and WAC. Upon her honorable discharge, she made New York her permanent home. She was a member of the American Legion up until her death. In the early 1940's, she joined the New York Police Depart- ment. During this time she was involved in all aspects of police work, earning a Commendation in 1951, for her undercover work, involving the Communist Party. The last ten years she worked with the Youth Division, she retired after twenty-three and a half years. : Elizabeth married Willard Fuller who was originally from Burke County, later Augusta Georgia. To this union was born two children, Willard Jr. and Yvette Louise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Sr. and her son, Willard Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Yvette Fuller Merriweather, son-in-law, Daryl Q. Merriweather; three grandchildren, Danica Merriweather, Winston-Salem NC; Daryl Q. Merriweather II, Augusta GA; Davina Merriweather, Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Merriweather and Eustace Merriweather; three nephews, Isaac Wood, Augusta, GA; James Johnson, Washington DC and Erious Johnson, Queens NY; two nieces, Catherine Johnson, Denver Colorado and Marion Shephard, Bronx NY; and many grand-nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
