Saturday, December 12,2009 11:00 A.M. Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Decatur County, Georgia Reverend Willie Kegler, Pastor Reverend Cleveland Sanders, Officiating was born March 13,1922 in Decatur County, Georgia to the late Reverend William Fountain and Mrs. Sarah Middleton Fountain. He attended school in Decatur County until the seventh grade. At which time he left school to help his family on the farm. He accepted CHRIST at an early age and joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cyrene, Georgia. Deacon Fountain served faithfully in various capacities at Mount Zion. His most memorable role was that of Adult Sunday School Teacher. Matthew was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Beulah Gadson. To this union two children were born; one of whom, Gary Anthony Fountain, preceded him in death. He served his country and was a World War II Veteran. A dedicated employee of Engelhard Minerals and Chemical, Fountain worked as a master welder. He was a loyal member of the NAACP, the Civic and Progressive League and the American Legion Post #502. Deacon Fountain was called Home to be with The LORD on Sunday, December 6,2009, leaving to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Beulah Fountain; one devoted daughter, Lindajohnson (Christopher) of Augusta, Georgia; three grandchildren: Christopher Johnson, David Johnson, and Alicia Fountain; three sisters-in-law: Lucy G. Wright of Tallahassee, Florida, Waver Fountain of Bainbridge, Georgia, and Inez Fountain of Alachua, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dont gri'eue for me, for norn I am free. I'm following the path GOD has laid for me. I took HIS hand when I heard HIS call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day to faugh, to loue, to uiorfe or play. Tasks left undone must stay that u>ay. I found peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a do id, then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a ki'ss- Ah yes, these things too I shall miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow; I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full; Ive savored much: good friends, good memories, my familys loue. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; dont lengthen it nou> rnith undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. GOD rnanted me noio; HE has set me FREE. When life is done, Do not shed tears, Death is not a time of sadness, Just the end of years. It should be a joyous time, A time of glee, A time to remember the good Times shared with thee. For a life spent is a life blessed, And a body departed Is a soul gone home to rest. Edward James Bodin Deacons of Mount Zion M.B.
