H e joined the St. M ark M ethodist Church and at an early age, he understood the love ol God and accep ted G od as his personal savior. 
H e was educated at C raig Elem entary and A tlantic City M iddle and two ijears ol High School, he graduated Irom Lucy C. Laney Class ol 1971. H e attended Paine C ollege lor two years. H e retired Irom A ugusta Y D C alter thirtyUour years ol service. 
H e was m arried to A lb erta Cunningham Edney. To this union, one son was born. 
H e is survived by: w ile, A lb e rta C unningham Edney; one son, H erbert A Edney, IV ol A ugusta, G A ; mother, H elen M. Tanksley ol A ugusta, G A ; sister, Ja n ice G ilbert, ol A ugusta, G A brother Patrick Tanksley ol Lithonia, GA; father~in" law, Mr. W illie Cunningham ; brothers-in-Jaw , B ern ard Cunningham and Emmanuel (Connie) Cunningham; uncle, Rev.
