C YNTH IA (CINDY) THERESA DIGGS, was born in Augusta, Georgia on January 16, 1954. She entered into rest Friday December 23, 2011 in Manassas, Virginia after a brief illness. Cynthia was the Assistant Principal of Westgate Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Farris and Alice Diggs. Cindy was baptized at an early age and joined Cumming Grove Baptist Church. While residing in California and the Virginia area (Metropolitan Baptist Church) Cindy continued her devotion to the Lord. Cindy was educated in the Richmond County School System and was a 1972 graduate o f Lucy C. Laney High School. She continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Augusta College, a Masters o f Art in Education from Atlanta University and in 2003 received an EdS., Educational Leadership from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Cindy began her career in Education as an elementary school teacher in Athens, Georgia and from there she taught in Dekalb County Public Schools, Compton, California and Fairfax County, Virginia. During the last few years she served as an Elementary School Assistant Principal. She was a member o f Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Elementary School Principles. She leaves to mourn: her grandmother, Josephine Kearns; sisters, Deborah Diggs (Ronald) Brown and Sharon Diggs, Lawrenceville, GA; nephew, Farrell Brown; niece, Alese Brown; devoted uncle, Joseph Diggs, Sr; devoted cousins, Beverly Berry, Bill Diggs, Joseph "Bubba" Diggs, Jr. and Jocelyn Hayes; devoted friends, Karla Barnes, Ann Marshall, Donaval Mitchell, Rhonda Pannell; and a host of dear family and friends.
