He was born April 2,1932, in Barnwell, South Carolina to the late Mr. Malachi, Sr. and Mrs. Ella Coleman. At an early age he was converted and baptized at Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Barnwell, South Carolina. He moved to Augusta, Georgia and joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was an active member on the Senior Choir, Phinizy Choir and Brotherhood Min istry.
