Waitus Rogers Carter, Sr., devout Christian and loving husband, passed away in his home at the 
age of 79, on July 30, 2018, following a battle with cancer. 
Waitus was bom to Grant Carter and Laura Warren on January 28, 1939 in Waynesboro, 
Georgia. After moving with his family to Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Waitus attended school in 
Broward County, Florida and received his high school diploma from Dillard High School on 
June 7, 1956. Afterward, Waitus served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge 
in 1963. 
On May 27, 1964, Waitus began working for Allied Chemical in Detroit, Michigan. While 
there, he held a number of positions. Through his hard work and diligence, Waitus worked his 
way up the ladder and completed an electrical apprentice program ahead of schedule and 
received his electrical certificate from Henry Ford Community College on August 8, 1980. 
After leaving Allied Chemical, he pursued a successful career as an industrial electrician at 
Detroit Edison, where he worked until his retirement in 2002. 
While in Detroit, Waitus devoted his life to the Lord and his community. He was an active 
member of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church and served as an Officer on the Board of 
Blackstone Housing Cooperative. In 2015, Waitus and his loving wife, Naomi Wilson-Carter, 
purchased a home and moved to Augusta, Georgia, where he lived until his passing. 
Waitus was an avid and accomplished bowler. He bowled two perfect "300" games in his 60s. 
He also relished a good game of golf and traveling extensively. 
Waitus was preceded in death by his brother, Dosie McBride and is survived by his loving wife, 
Naomi Roberta Wilson-Carter, his sons Waitus Carter, II (Kimberly), Everette Winslow 
(Christy), and James Winslow (Gunda), godchildren Xavier, Robin, Natalie (deceased), and 
Joshua Ramey, his brother James McBride, grandsons Donovan and Israel, and a host of nieces, 
nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Trying to help the sick and the poor, And turning no needy from my door. 
I strove to do my Masters work, never a duty did I shirk. 
Many times I was misunderstood, when I had done the best that I could. 
/ am tired now so let me rest. Dont cry, dont you know God knows best? 
Please no sad hearts, no hung-down heads. Dont weep for I am not dead. 
I have another house you know, where only Gods redeemed can go. 
I do not need this house of clay, so, tenderly, carefully, lay it away.
