Searcy, Officiating: Reflections Upon The Life Of Monroe A. Byrd Monroe Aaron Byrd was born in Greensboro, Georgia, to the late King and Sally Byrd and was the eleventh child of the twelve children. At an early age, he joined Antioch Baptist Church and served faithfully until moving to Athens where he united in membership with First Baptist Church. For forty-five years, he was a faithful and loyal member of Mount Zion Second Baptist Church - Atlanta, Georgia where he served in many capacities: Scout Master, member - Spiritual Wheel Choir being the only male member; member of Ward Five and other auxiliaries. Mr. Byrd was employed by the Railway Express Agency where he worked until he retired after 37 years of service. He served the residents of the entire Atlanta Community by delivering Fresh Farm Eggs weekly. He was known as the "LOVABLE EGG MAN." Mr. Byrd was a devoted husband to Mrs. Zeda Johnson Byrd and together they worked as a team to aid the needy and to assst in every way possible programs of worth. Along with his widow, Mrs. Zeda J.
