(iDbituarg Mr. Marshall Butler, Sr., departed this life Wednesday, January 6, 1999, at the Edgefield Health Care Center. Mr. Butler, son of the late Saul and Mary Jennings Butler, was bom April 12, 1917, in Edgefield County, South Carolina. He was educated in the Edgefield County School system. At an early age he joined the Bland Baptist Church. He was a dedicated and a faithful member of the deacon board and the senior choir. He was employed with and retired from Federal Pacific. He was a member of the Young Men of Honor and the Western Aide Society. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Annie Mae Mitchell. To this union eleven children were born. Three preceded him in death, Marshall Butler, Jr., Marv Butler and Billy Bay Butler. He will be remembered for his pleasant smile, lively spirit, and the way he raised those spirit-filled hymns. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Rev. Anme Mae Butler; two sons, George (Willie Mae) Butler, Jamaica, NY and Raymond (Eunice) Butler, Clinton, MD; six daughters, Henrietta (Reginald) Grimes and Mamie (Albert) Kimble, both of Edgefield, SC, Viola (Theodore) Walker, Johnston, SC, Annie Mae (Allen) Williams, Trenton, SC, Grace (Alton) Jones, Hephzibah, Ga and Myrtis (Joe) Smith, Inno, SC; three brothers, Dan (Linda) Butler, Edgefield, SC, Joe Butler, Ridge Spring, SC and James Butler, Florida; four sisters, Maude. Ramsey, Queens, NY, Myrtis Mobley, Johnston, SC, Emmie Lee Hamilton, Aiken, SC and Sara (Willie) Raiford, Ridge Spring, SC; thirty-one grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren five great-gieat grandchildren, one great-great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends. The Butler family would like to express their deepest appreciation for all acts of kindness, your prayers, your food, your visits, or kind thoughts.
