Larry Fryer, Officiating Obituary "Precious in the sight o f the Lord is the death o f His s a i n t s psalm 116:15 ******** Mrs. Edith Maree Buchanan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W illiam C. Maree of Walterboro, South Carolina, departed this life on Tuesday, January 19,1993 at her residence, 2023 Steiner Avenue. She lived in Augusta most of her life and graduated from Haines Normal and Industrial Institute. Upon graduation, she taught school in South W est Georgia. Edith later married W alter J. Buchanan, Sr. To this union a son, W alter J. Buchanan, Jr., was born. They both preceded her in death. She was a loyal member of Trinity C.M.E. Church and was one of the founders of the W hite Rose Circle where she served as vicepresident. Edith was one of the founders and past president of the Women's Civic Club. She was a member of Neighbors United and Haines Alumni Association. She was a quiet unassuming Christian person who w ill be remembered for her devotion to God and to her family. Those left to cherish her memory are a devoted daughter-in-law, Ileen Batey Buchanan; two nephews, Dr. Ralph Tracy and Harry Tracy of Walterboro, S.C.; two cousins, Philip W aring of Augusta, Ga. and Lou W aring of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren, W alter Buchanan, III and Greta Taylor of Detroit, Mich.; four great grandchildren of Detroit, Mich.; a caring friend, Jerrylyn Dent of Augusta, Ga.; and many other friends.
