Briscoe , age 88, formerly of Augusta, Georgia died April 16, 2007 at Magnolia Haven Nursing Home in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was born January 9, 1919 in Warren County, Georgia. At an early age she moved to Augusta where she resided until 2000. She joined Elim Baptist Church at age 8 where she was a loyal member of the Usher Board and Missionary Society for over 60 years. Before her death, she was Elims oldest living member. Her career spanned over 60 years as a private duty Licensed Practical Nurse to many newborns and seniors in the Augusta area. She was a charter member of the Augusta Licensed Practical Nursing Association. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Golden, father, Henry Anderson and brother, Rudolph Golden. Survivors include daughter, Yvonne Briscoe Metcalf of Tuskegee Institute, Alabama; sister, Thomasine E. Smith of San Francisco, California; brother, William (Ann) Golden of Augusta, Georgia; granddaughters, Vanessa (Shawn) Austin of Stafford, Virginia and Natasha K. Metcalf of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandsons, Shawn D. Austin and Myles A. Austin of Stafford, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
