Church of the Advent Memorial Service On 19 November 2001 For The First Lady of Advent Gloria Elizabeth Bohler 25 January 1930 OBITUARY Gloria Elizabeth Bohler (aka Glorious Ann) was born in Springfield, Missouri, January 25, 1930; the first of three children bom to the late William Leroy and Ethal Martha (Darton) Jackson. As a teenager, Gloria played for many services in her church; Washington Avenue Baptist. In 1947, she graduated from Lincoln High School, Springfield. Gloria received a B.A. in Music in 1951 from Lincoln Univarsity, Jefferson City, Missouri. In the fell of 1951, she enrolled in the Conservatory of Music, Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio, a candidate for Master of Arts (in music). In Oberlin, she met Lewis Penrose Bohler Jr; a junior in The Graduate School of Theology. Gloria and Lewis were married October 8, 1952 in Fairchild Chapel, Oberlin. To this union, two children were bom: Carmen Le Jeure and Stephen Craig. Following a brief residence (6 years) in Youngtown, Ohio, the Bohlers moved to Los Angeles, CA. There Gloria sang in the choir, served as member of the altar guild and the Episcopal Church Women. For 20 years, she was employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District, several years as Music Advisor and Administrator in Area B. In 1996, The Bohlers moved to Augusta, Georgia where Gloria once again sang in the choir. Following a lengthy illness, Gloria died November 13,2001. She is survived by her husband of 49 years; Fr Lewis Bohler, a daugther, Carmen . L. Nocks of St Albans, New York and a son, Stephen Craig, of Augusta, Georgia. A sister, Carol Jean and her husband, Roy Jones of Springfield, Illinois; An Aunt, Ursula Darton, Springfield, Missouri, uncles, Andrew. W. Darton, and Charles Jackson, Chicago, Illinois. Several nephew, nieces, grand nephew and grand nieces and many adoring friends everywhere! A sister, Maria Sue Simmonds preceded her in death.
