Gardner, Pastor ~ Officiating MRS. HERTHA LATIMER BLOUNT entered into eternal peace on Sunday, July 9.V 2006, at her residence. She was born in Warren County Georgia, the daughter of the late Carrie Hart and John F.K. Latimer. X Mrs. Blount spent most of her adult life in Augusta, Georgia, where she married the late V Robert E. Blount, Sr. She was a devoted member of Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, and a member of the Stewardess Board. Mrs. Blount worked tirelessly as an educator in the Richmond County Pubic Schools until her retirement. Following her retirement, she was active in her church and many other service organizations including the Womens Civic Club, Shiloh Community Center, the Paine College Alumni Presidents Club, and the Spelman Alumni. She also gave years of service to the Augusta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Augusta Chapter of Links, Incorporated. Mrs. Blount was preceded in death by: her daughter, Dr. Jeannine Blount Cooper and her son, Robert E. Blount, Jr. She is survived by: her son, Dr. Latimer Blount (Jean) of Augusta, Georgia; son-in-law, Dr. Earl Cooper of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Catherine Fortson of Trenton, New Jersey and Carol Babcock (Futhey) of Augusta, Georgia. She leaves to mourn: nine grandchildren, Carol Lynn Cooper, Earl Latimer Cooper, Lori Allison Cooper, Krista Elaine Cooper, Herbert Blount, Latimer Blount Jr., Ladonna Jeannine Blount, Anthony Blount and Benton Blount; six great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Latimer, Ruby Latimer and Lucille Floyd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
