(jtcuty (Be&fd, S t was born on July 14, 1919, to the late Jake and Mozella (Hammond) Beard. He departed this life on February 20, 2002, at the St. Joseph Hospital. He attended the Columbia County schools. Grady was con' verted and baptized at the Water Branch Baptist Church, Grovetown, Georgia. He served in the Armed Forces and later retired from Hollinsworth Candy Company. He later met and married the late Lillie B. Colbert Beard. To this union four children were born. One child, James W. Beard, preceded him in death. He now leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Ms. Rozella Beard, Augusta, G A; devoted sons, Dea. Grady (Ruby) Beard, Hephzibah, G A and Mr. Lawrence (Sandra) Beard, Martinez, GA; one adopted daughter, Ms. Lillie Mae Hill, Atlanta, GA; one goddaughter, Joyce Ann (Chris) Bailey, Aiken, SC; one brother, James (Ann) Beard, Augusta, GA; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Willa Ann Beard; fourteen grandchildren and twenty greatgrandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Ms. Victoria Colbert, Mrs. Rubenia (Frank) Dicks and Mrs. Viola (John) Hall, all of A u gusta, G A; brother-in-law, Dea. You meant so much to me, this was clear to see. You were always there, when I needed you the most. There is no doubt you're with G od's heavenly host. You're out of pain and suffering too. No more medicine will there be for you. You went just as God planned. You left us to take His holy hand. You told us goodbye with a blinking o f your eyes. Although we are sad, and we may shed tears, God knows what's best for us, before it's even revealed. So to this family, I say be strong. God took Granddaddy back to his heavenly home.
