The Soldier It is the soldier; not the reporter Who has given usfreedom to the press; It is the soldier; not the poet Who has given usfreedom of speech? It is the soldier; not the campus organiser Who has given usfreedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier Who salutes theflag; Who serve beneath theflag, And whose coffin is draped by theflag; Who allows the protester to burn theflag. `For those l love, for those who love me, I thankyoufor the love each ofyou has shown. But now thatyou are gone, what shall I do? As everyone knew, you were my everything, myfriend, protector, provider, the cause of my smile. So now, what do I do? Well, ifyou were here, you wouldprobably say, `Eean not toyour own understanding, but acknowledge God, and He will directyour path.
