Page: [1] Columbus. Ga. [Georgia] Nov. [November] 25 /67 Col. [Colonel] Wier [Wier] Boyd . Dahlonega. Dear Sir. I am in receipt of your favor 19th & notice contents. I am sorry to see so many persons are pitching onto the Yah. [Yahoola?] & Wood as it is altogether unnecessary, if I am correctly informed. By a letter recd. [received] today from Boston I hear Mr. Hand the new Treasurer in place of Mr. King has gone to Dah. [Dahlonega] (or about going) to settle up all claims. Mr. Peck will go about same time. The Company wrote & asked if I would take time in a settlement by note -- I wrote on & made a fair proposal; but have not heard in answer. I am willing to be lenient if they will show a disposition to settle. I will write you if I do effect anything. I am determined to bring it to a close before Court & by that time will write you what to do. I understood (privately) that Judge Rice told someone that our sale would not hold & was no account. Business is very dull, we are doing nothing & I am blue as to the future. With Kind regards I am ever Yours most truly [Signed] A. [Amory] Dexter.
