Dear Sir.
I am in receipt of your favor 20th & am glad to notice you have closed with Mr. Oates & as you say think it is a very good trade -- I am glad you rented to him for the season -- I see you have taken a joint deed & expect by that Mr Peck has paid you $90. which I wrote him he could do if he wished to have an equal interest.

Did Mr. Hand or Mr. Peck decide to take my office furniture at $40. -- ? If so please collect the amt. [amount] for me whilst money is abundant.

If you sell any article or collect funds for me please retain till I go up to Dah. [Dahlonega] as I wish to use the amt. [amount] there for expenses. You are welcome to use the funds yourself in the meantime.

We expect to go to Dah. [Dahlonega] 1st of May & at that time we can straighten out our affair -- Please return to Tax assessor the following property for 1868 & oblige
