Dahlonega. Dear Sir.
Have your favor 27th inst. [instant] & notice you have conditionaly sold "Amory Mineral right" to Doct [Doctor] Vandyke.

I hardly think you are authorised [authorized] to do this. The Doct. [Doctor] knows as much as the owners do about its value & made the offer at a very low price taking the chances as to mineral, & as to value of Yahoola Co. [Company] lease. It was on such an offer I advised owner to give you Power of Atty.. [Attorney] If he goes on to test & finds it very rich he will only pay $1000 -- If no account he will refuse to buy it. That was not the sense of the trade. No doubt Mr. Hand would now pay $1000. & take chances.

Honestly I dont think you should allow a working test under offer of only $1000.

The Yahoola Co. [Company] have not I think worked it since the war. I forget how much rent they paid to Amory. But there is no doubt they have not paid within 7 years. For I would have heard of it. --

The sale is of no interest to me; but one of the heirs is Char. [Charles?] Amorys sister (Mrs. Austin) & she would feel hurt if I did not look somewhat to her interest, as she is in a foreign Country educating [deleted text: fer] her children.

Give my regards to Doct. [Doctor] & his son. With much to yourself.
