Description:
A mixed-methods approach was utilized to determine whether knowing a child’s love language can affect academic achievement, disciplinary referrals, and reduction in classroom disruptions. A quantitative survey and qualitative classroom observations measured the correlation between the five love languages and the impact they have on student achievement. The findings of this study will guide teachers and administrators on strategies that can influence the learning outcomes while simultaneously investing in the social-emotional needs of students. The qualitative and quantitative data were compiled and analyzed while considering descriptive and inferential statistics to identify the emergent themes that impact the challenges teachers and school administrators have meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of students. The outcomes of the study concluded that there was a significant correlation between love languages, social-emotional needs, and academic achievement.
