- This study examines and critically analyzes the historical socio-political ascendancy of U.S. Congressman John Conyers, Jr., who is one of many distinguished and resilient Americans of what many have termed the “Silent Generation.” Throughout this work, the author employs a critical analysis of data based upon accumulated information pertinent to the socio-political environment which influenced John Conyers and his generation. The researcher found that very little has been written on the political career of U.S. Congressman and Congressional Black Caucus member, John Conyers and members of his generation, especially from an American perspective. The conclusion drawn from the findings suggests that John Conyers, like so many African American members of the Silent Generation, made significant contributions in their pursuit for social justice. Moreover, it insinuates that they revolutionized the American society and the body of American politics and are deserving of greater recognition within the body of American political history.
