Photographs and text from Women of Armstrong display (2007.) From Janet Stone's text (from 2007): In the fall of 2006, Ellen V. Whitford became Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Armstrong Atlantic State University. She is the first woman to hold the position of chief academic officer at Armstrong. Her Doctor of Education degree from Rutgers University specialized in Educational Theory, Policy, and Administration. She came to Armstrong from Central Connecticut State University where she was serving as Interim Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs. At the opening faculty meeting of the fall semester, she welcomed the Armstrong faculty in the auditorium of the new Armstrong Conference Center. It was a good day for her, a good day for the University, and a good day for women at Armstrong. Welcome, Dr. Whitford. It's about time!
