Neighborhood Arts Center musician-in-residence Joe Jennings and his partner Howard Nicholson formed the core of Life Force. Jennings, a saxophonist, worked at the Neighborhood Arts Center from February 1976 until September 1978 when he left to teach music at Morehouse College in Atlanta. In the early 1970s Jennings and Howard Nicholson formed the Life Force jazz band in order to perform their original work and jazz classics.
