During the Festival, which ran from May 13-21, 1978, the Neighborhood Arts Center held workshops and demonstrations. Poet-in-residence Jim Lee read for the Atlanta Writer's Council. Ojeda Penn, Atlanta area jazz pianist, clarinet player, and college professor, worked at the Neighborhood Arts Center February through August 1975 before taking a job as an associate professor of English at the Atlanta Junior College. He stayed on as a member of the Neighborhood Arts Center board of trustees.
