 OBITUARY 
"On Jordan's stormy banks I stand and c;t:: l a wishful eye, to Canaan's fair and happy land where my possessions lie. When sh;J 11 I reach - that happy place and be forever blessed; When shall I see my Father's face, and in His bosom rest. The Almighty Heavenly Father saw fit to call home from lator to reward our beloved Sister Evangelist Lucille Watkins Wimby. 
Lucille Watkins was corn to Mr. Harry and Mrs. Martha Watkins, November 1, 1912 in Butts County, and was also raised there. She received her education from the Henry County Elementary and High Schools in McDonough, Georgia. At an early age Lucille joined Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Jackson, Ga. After moving to McDonough, Ga., she joined Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church. While attending Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church she met and married Mr. Paul Welch, and to this union her one and only child, a daughter, Sinclair was born. 
Later, Lucille moved to Atlanta and joined Turner Monumental AME Church in 1951. Lucille married Mr. Lewis Wimby and to this union no children were born. 
Evangelist Lucille Wimby was a faithful and useful member of Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church. She served and sang in the H. Jackson Chorus, Choir Number One and any other choir that needed her voice. She will always be remembered for the spirit filled way she could sing praises to the Lord. We will always remember her singing "Without God, I Could Do Nothing." 
 
 Evangelist Wimby was not only a soul stirring singer, but she filled the pulpit with spirit. She will be remembered for her sermons and prayers as she filled souls with "Manna from on high." She was also a member of the Pastor's Aid Board. 
Evangelist Lucille Wimby served her Lord and the Church well until her death on June 24, 1981. 
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Mr. Lewis Wimby; one daughter, Mrs. Sinclair Smith; three brothers, Mr. Emmitt Watkins, Atlanta, Mr. Charlie Watkins, Detroit, Michigan, and Elder John Henry Watkins, McDonough, Georgia; Four step-sons, Misters Willie Roy, Lewis Jr., Harry and Larry Wimby; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gail Watkins, Mrs. Alice Watkins and Mrs. Ethel Banks; 18 grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. 
"Without God, I could do nothing, Without Him, I would fail. Without Him, my life would be rugged; Like a ship without a sail."
