Celesta "Faye" Porter Wilson was born on May 26, 1949 in Florala, Alabama to the late William J. Porter and Susie Mae Coney Porter.
She went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2014. "Faye", as she was known by her family and close friends, was married to James E . Wilson on November 22, 1967, and of that marriage two children were born, Tonjya W. Johns and Vincient M. Wilson. She was an outstanding student and graduated from Florala High School in 1967. As an early leader and pioneer, she was the fttst and only black student to integrate Florala High School. She paved the way for others who attended the following year.
She and James moved to Adanta, Georgia in 1972. She started working for Georgia Power Company at the tender age of 25 as a Customer Service Representative and later became a Customer Service Supervisor. She supervised over 50 employees for more than 10 years and after 37 years of service, retired in May, 2009.
Faye enjoyed life and during retirement spent time with family and friends; when she wasn't traveling with her best friend, Della Wright. She was an inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She developed a close and lasting friendship with Della Wright, Erostine Knox and Shundra Neal. Faye was a sister, a mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
Faye gave her life to the Lord and served faithfully at Lordship of Christ under the direction of Pastor Michael A. Pace. She was a member of the "Echoes of Praise" and served as a Sunday School Teacher to Shamiyah, Aisha, Christina, and Elena all of whom she adored.
Faye leaves to cherish her memories her children, Tonjya (Greg) Johns and Vincient (Tonya) Wilson; her sisters, Margaret Qames) Rodgers, Barbara (Tollie, deceased) Weatherington, Willie Mae Miller, Gloria Brennan White; her brother, William Qacqueline) Porter; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of niece~, nephews, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Faye will be dearly missed by each and every person whose life she touched.
