0~ Eldoris Smith Williams was born on July 29, 1930 in Lithonia, Georgia to the late Abraham Lincoln Smith and Ollie Florence Tuggle. She joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church ..-!!1....-.....-lll!l!l!llfllll~.....llllll!!lllll at an early age where she worked in Sunday school and sang in the choir. Eldoris moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she met and married the late Willie Houston. She later married the late J.B. Williams. She joined Cosmopolitan A.M.E. Church ~------------~ and became a tireless church worker serving as a Missionary, YPD Supervisor, Sunday School Teacher, Director li.liilllllllii.llllliiiillliiiii......__.illl of the Sunbeam Choir and member of the Lay Organization. She would make her rounds on Sunday mornings picking up members of her Sunday School Class making sure that they got to Sunday school and church on time. In 1968, Eldoris began working for the VA Medical Center fulltime while earning her GED and an Associate Degree from DeKalb College. After several years at Cosmopolitan A.M.E. Church, Eldoris moved her membership back to St. Paul A.M.E. Church and became a chartered member of First St. Paul A.M.E. Church ~- where she continued her service to the Lord. She served L -. ,. _ _ ..._._. in the Missionary Society, on the Stewardess Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Lay Organization, Steward Board, Director of Children's Church and as a faithful Director of the Food Pantry, giving that up only after her health began to fail. Because of her health, it became necessary for Eldoris to move in with her daughters. She associated under watch care with St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia under the pastorship of Reverend Earl L. Calloway. Eldoris Smith Williams departed this earth on Monday morning October 6, 2008 and she leaves to mourn her passing and rejoice in her homegoing, daughters, Patricia Houston and special daughters, Sandra Smith Glover, Huronda Smith, Demetra Abraham and LaKenya Wright and son Gary L. Smith; grandchildren, Gary, Jr., Eric and Brian Smith, John and Daniel Darden; great grandchildren Tiaria Houston, J.T. Darden, Erica, Justice, Kaelun and Jaden Smith. Eldoris is also survived by brothers, James A. (Dorothy) Smith, Albert L. Smith and LaSalle (Evelyn) Smith and sisters, Mary Hughey and Jeralene Gaither as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
