 ~ amuel William Wicker was born to the union of the late Henry, Sr. and Carrie Bell 
Gross Wicker on June 26, 1925 in Washington County, Davisboro, Georgia. He was the fourth of ten children. 
Samuel joined May Branch A.M.E. Church at an early age and served faithfully along with the family. 
He received his early education in Davisboro, Georgia. After relocating to Atlanta he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Samuel went on to graduate from Morris Brown College where he majored in philosophy and religion. He was an honor student at Interdenominational Theological Center and received a Master of Divinity \vith a maJOr 1n Christian Education. 
As he continued to excel in his education he began to prepare himself for ministry. Reverend Wicker pastored various churches throughout the State of Georgia and the Si..~th Episcopal District including Trinity, Turner Monumental in Atlanta, and Saint Paul in Lithonia. 
Because of Reverend Wicker's dedication to ministry and his ability to work well with people the Bishop appointed him to be Presiding Elder. He served on the East and North Districts until his retirement in 2004. 
Presiding Elder Wicker was preceded in death by seven siblings, Josephine Jordan, Henry Wicker, Jr., Naomi Wicker, David Wicker, Louella Dixson, Doris Wicker, and Ruth Trammell. 
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Ella Ruth Wicker; one sister, Mother Anna Smith; one brother, Horace A. Wicker, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
