 Lorenzo A. Wallace, Sr., a native Atlantan, was born May 14, 1919, the third child to the late Birdie Crolley Wallace and D r. Edward B. Wallace, Sr. He is the grandson of the late Reverend John Crolley, fust pastor and one of the founders of Warren Memorial United Methodist Church. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1937 and from Morehouse College, with a B.A. degree in 1941. 
Wallace served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941 through 1945, during World War II. Upon his discharge he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. He moved through the ranks to the U.S. Postal Service Southern Regional Office and retired in the position of Transportation Planning Officer in 1974. He served the Atlanta Railway Postal Clerks Credit Union as a Board of Director member for over twenty years. He was also on the Historic South-View Preservation board for the cemetery. 
Lorenzo Wallace is a lifetime member of Warren Memorial UMC. His affiliations include the Board of Trustees, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Sanctuary Choir, Delegate to the Annual Conference, President of the United Methodist Men, Methodist Men's Chorus, Church Historian, the C. B. Griggs Sunday School Class, and Noon Bible Study Class. 
His social and civic affiliations include Morehouse College Alumni Association, B. T. Washington Class of 1937 Alumni Club, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., Atlanta Branch of the NAACP, and Chapter 1033 of the National Alliance of Retired Federal Employees. 
In addition he served the Georgia Senate in the position of Doorkeeper for eighteen sessions and as Sergeant-at-Arms for several additional years. 
As a member of the Montford Point Marines, he received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2011 for being one of the first black Americans to integrate the Marine Corps in 1942. 
He is survived by his wife (Thelma P. Wallace), former wife (Gladys Beverly Wallace), son (Lorenzo A. Wallace, Jr.), a daughter (Nneka Alston Perry), three grandchildren, a niece Oulie Wallace Abram), and four nephews (Bernard Gipson, Jr., Samuel Wallace, Benjamin Wallace, and Bruce Gipson).
