Ulysses Clarence Walker made a peaceful transition into God's eternal resting place on Sunday morning, February 27, 2011. Ulysses, or Walker as he was fondly referred, was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 12, 1921 to the late John Clarence Walker and Nancy Davis Walker. He was the youngest of four children, William being the oldest, Paul the second oldest, and Rudina. Ulysses was married to Doris Anderson Walker. The two resided in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ulysses was educated in the Atlanta Public School System. Although he never graduated from high school, the words of wisdom and world knowledge in which he often shared with others was equivalent to any diploma, degree, master's or PHD that a person could earned! The year 1942 proved to be an exciting and busy year for 21-year old Ulysses. For in this one year, he enlisted in the United States Army where he was sent to Boston, Massachusetts for training, he married Louise Warren and to their union, one child, William Kenneth "Butch" Walker (deceased) was born! After serving three years in the Armed Forces (where he served as a soldier in World War II) he moved back to Atlanta. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Chicago, Illinois with his brother, William. .. - While in Chicago, he became the proud father of Ulysses, Jr., Larry, Revice and Jerome (deceased). Though not sure as to the reason, Ulysses, eventually, moved from Chicago to Cincinnati, Ohio. Apparently, Cincinnati, appealed to him because this is where he spent most of the latter years of his life. Cincinnati was, also, the city in which he became the father of his youngest daughters, Regina and Montez (formerly Lenette). Over the years, Ulysses was employed by Port-A-Let and General Electric (GE). He, also, performed odd jobs to earn money. In 2006, Ulysses moved back home to Atlanta. Like all of us, Ulysses was not a perfect man. However, he never looked back with regrets; instead, he choose to move forward in prayer, patience and love. He did what he could to show his love and would often tell his family that he loved them and how special they were to him. "Peace" was often the last word spoken when someone was leaving his presence or vice versa. Most importantly, Ulysses had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He spent much of his last years studying and sharing God' s holy word. Ulysses is survived by a wife, Doris, five children: Ulysses, Jr., Larry, Revice (Alfred), Regina and Montez (Lucretia); fifteen grandchildren: William, Katherine (Curtis), Sabrina, Amethia, Sharon, Dione (Allen), Jacinta (Marcus), Sonia, Vanessa, Shawn, Janeicka, Demetris (Deia), Corderius, Jonathan, Jeanetta and Justin; a niece, Sharon Hughes (Sammie), a special friend, Louise Gray; his dog, Tommy, as well as, a host of greatgrand children, other relatives and friends. Peace! ) "For ifwe believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
