He attended Atlanta Public schools, Young Street Elementary and David T. Howard High. He served 4 years in the United States Army and over the span of his career he worked for Haverty's Furniture Company, Arrow Shirt Company and retired from The Atlanta Journal Constitution (Cox Enterprises). He was married to the late Pearlie M Taylor Walker and later married the late Beverly Maxey Walker. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Annie L. Murray; and son, Harvey Walker, Ill. He is survived by: Sarah Ellis; seven daughters; one son; one niece; twelve grandchildren; and a host of beloved relatives and dear friends.
