Atlanta; Georgia The Reverend William L. Cottrell, Sr., Pastor Officiating OBITUARY Deacon Ferrell Japhus Walker, Sr. was born on November 15, 1940 in Hamilton, Georgia. He was the third of nine children born to the late Deacon Leroy and the late Emma Lue Walker. Mter a brief illness, Ferrell was called to eternal rest by his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2011. His family moved to Atlanta in 1945, where Deacon Walker was a product of the Atlanta Public School System. He graduated from L. J. Price High School in 1958. There he was a member of the marching band, the concert band, track tearn, ar1d he was an avid swimmer. Ferrell had an outgoing personality, a giant zest for life and was driven to succeed and to lead. He tackled every task with his sight set on nothing less than success. Ferrell was a stickler for tradition and a lover of family values. One event he always looked forward to was "caroling" with his brothers on Christmas Eve, spreading the Christmas joy to family and friends. The next morning, breakfast was served by their sisters, a tradition in tituted by their mother. Ferrell married at an early age, to the former Elsie H eard, and this union produced iliree children, Trina, Terion and Ferrell, Jr. In 1984, Ferrell married Beverly Leggett, from New Orleans, LA. They remained a loving life couple until Jesus called him home. Ferrell accepted Christ at a young age. He joined Beulah Baptist Church and after fifty years of service, he became a "Keeper of the Charge." H e was a proud member of the D eacon Board, a long time member of the Men's Usher Board and a member of the Men's Bible Class. Ferrell worked for General Motors in D oraville, Georgia from 1963 until his retirement in 1992. H e had a strong work ethic inspired by his father, and an unrelenting drive for success. Ferrell rose ilirough the ranks to become supervisor. Deacon Walker was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Erby Walker, Sr. and Charlie Roy Walker, Sr.; two grandchildren, Rachel Patrice Thomas and Christopher J eremy Thomas. Deacon Walker leaves to cherish in their hearts and memories: a loving and devoted wife, Beverly Walker; tlrree children, Trina Walker, Evangelist Terion Walker and Ferrell Walker, J r. Uazlyn); eleven grandchildren, Wayne, Elisiya, Ferrell (Angelina), Patrick, J eremy, Joshua, Kenneth, Ashley, J a'Ferrah, Ferrell III and Sa'Ferrell; one great-grandson, Ferrell; brothers and sisters, John Walker, Sr. (Eleanor), Patricia Walker, Leroy (Bug) Walker, Jr., Drucilla Davis (Bernard), Kelvin Walker, Sr. (Bessie Mae), Paul Walker, Sr. (Diane); one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Richard Shepard, respectively, and a multitude of relatives and friends.
