 Obituary 
Sherman Wade, Sr. was born September 9, 1921 in Henry County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Wade (Fannie Wright). 
He received his early education in McDonough, Georgia. In 1941, he entered the US Army and served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. In 1945, he married Arlena Price and they settled and raised their family in Atlanta, Georgia. 
He accepted Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church, South for over fifty years. He served his church as Deacon, Church Treasurer, Usher (chairman) and Sunday School Teacher. In September, 1997, his church honored him for his faithful and dedicated service. 
He was employed by the Atlanta Army Depot (Conley, Georgia). After he retired from the Atlanta Army Depot in 1973, he continued to operate an auto paint and body shop which he owned. He also owned and operated a taxicab. 
He was a role model and mentor to his children and other younger family members. He continuously stressed the importance of higher education, in spite of the fact that he only had a sixth grade education. He routinely worked two and three jobs so that all of his children would have an opportunity to further their education. 
He was an advisor, loyal and devoted friend. Whenever there was a need, family members and friends could always depend on him to come through. 
Deacon Sherman Wade, Sr. went to heaven on March 12, 1998. His five sisters, Lessie, Lottie, Lillie, Maude and Willie Mae (Teench); one brother, Clemmie; and a stepmother, Fannie M. Barber-Wade, preceded him in death. 
He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Arlena Price Wade; children: Mr. Arthur Will Wade of San Francisco, CA; Mr. and Mrs. Forrest L. Wade (Ann) of Tucson AZ; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Huston (Juanita Phelps), Ms. Jeanette Turner, both of Atlanta, GA; Ms. Carolyn Wade Thorpe of Augusta, GA; Ms. Beverly Wade of Atlanta, GA; Sherman Wade, Jr. of Atlanta, GA: grandchildren: Dr. & Mrs. Peter Okrah (Angel) of Chandler, AZ; Mr. Forrest Wade, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN; Miss Tiffany Morris of Atlanta, GA; Mr. Brandon J. Thorpe, of Augusta, GA; and great grandchild: Miss Susan Okrah of Chandler, AZ; two devoted nieces, Mr. & Mrs. William Adams (Margie), Mrs. Rosa Lee Whitehead; an "adopted" daughter and caregiver, Ms. Nina Williamson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 
We will not weep in his passing, but rather let us rejoice, for he had a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As his health dec_lined in recent months, he was at peace, for he knew he had a place in heaven.
