Twine was born on November 3, 1930, to the late George and Sadie Twine, in Pasquotank County, NC. He departed this life on August 11, 2017 at Vidant Chowan Hospital. Curtis L. Twine received his formal education in Elizabeth City and graduated from P.W Moore High School in 1950. Upon completion of high school, he entered the United States Army where he served with the Combat Engineers during the Korean Conflict in Japan and Korea. After serving the Unites States Army, he enrolled at Elizabeth City State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Curtis furthered his studies at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina, where he earned his Master ofEducation Degree. Curtis L. Twine was joined in holy matrimony to Barbara Moye Twine of Edenton, NC on August 6, 1962. To this union, one son, Todd ofRaleigh, NC was born. Curtis L. Twine was affiliated with several organizations: Past Worshipful Master of John R. Page Masonic Lodge#13, Worthy Patron of Electa Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star, Member of the Board ofDirectors ofChowan Credit Union, Member ofNorth Carolina Retired Teachers, Quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10398, member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Scout Master of Troop 91. After becoming affiliated with Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Curtis became active and supportive of the church, involving himself in many of the church activities. He was a Deacon, Church Clerk, and a Sunday School Teacher. Curtis L. Twine taught in the Edenton-Chowan School System for thirty one years, from 1957 - 1989, where he made a positive impact on hundreds of students during his lengthy service as a teacher in Chowan County. Curtis L. Twine leaves to rejoice in the precious memory of his wife, Barbara Twine; son Todd (Jarona) of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Julius L. Twine of Washington, D.C.; two special cousins, William Shannon and Isaac Murden both ofElizabeth City, NC; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Hill (Harold) of Raleigh, NC, Emma Lawrence (Jerry), and Maxine Moye of Edenton, NC; four brothers-in-law, Robert Moye (Gwen) of Edenton, NC, Joseph Moye ofEdenton, NC, Thaddeus Smith Jersey City, NJ, and Elight Johnson, Raleigh, NC; step grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Curtis was preceded in death by his brother, Rudolph Twine; sister, Marion Twine; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Drew, Jessie Smith, Patricia Moye, and Catherine Johnson.
