BEST, OFFICIATING Barbara Ellen Moye Twine, affectionally known by her family, "Barb " or "Bob " was born on May 23, 1938 in the Green Hall community of Edenton, North Carolina to Jesse and Nevada Roberts Moye. On Saturday, September 28, 2019, she departed this life at her home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age and joined Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Edenton, North Carolina. She was a faithful member until her health declined. Barbara received her education from the former D. F. Walker High School in Edenton, North Carolina. She furthered her education at Elizabeth City State Teachers College in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and graduated in 1960. Barbara was a devoted and inspiring teacher. She knew at a young age that she wanted to be a teacher. She taught in the Edenton - Chowan County School System for 35 years. Barbara was joined in holy matrimony to Curtis L. Twine of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on August 6, 1962. To this union, one son was born, Todd Twine. Barbara had a passion for serving. She was a member of the Pastor Aid, Deaconess, Missionary, Ladies and Men 's Ministries. She was a Sunday School and VBS teacher and attended Bible Study regularly on Wednesday nights. Barbara was also a member of the Christian Education Committee, By-laws Committee, Church Wide Institute, and Stewardship Committee. Barbara loved her community. She was an advocate for the children and tutored reading and language arts on a regular basis. She was a member of the Eastern Star and wife of the late Quarter Master Post 10398. Barbara and her late husband Curtis, were sponsors for the Twine Education Scholarship fund to assist in young boys and girls the opportunity to attend college. She also enjoyed attending Elizabeth City State University college games. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Nevada Roberts A1oye; husband, Curtis L. Twine , sisters, Jessie A1ae Smith, Catherine Johnson, and Dorothy Drew, f'rro brothers-in-laH:, Thaddeus Smith and Rudolph Twine and one sister-in-law, Patricia Moye. Barbara leaves to rejoice in the precious memory of her life her beloved son, Todd Twine (Jarona) of Raleigh, NC; three sisters. Ruth Hill (Harold) ofRaleigh, North Carolina, Emma Lawrence (Jerry) and Maxine Moye both of Edenton, North Carolina; two brothers, Robert Moye (Gwen) and Joseph Moye both ofEdenton, North Carolina; two brothersin-law, Julius Twine of Washington, District of Columbia, and Elight Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina; three step grandchildren; special caregiver, Barbara C. Mizzelle; goddaughter, Yvette Johnson and a host ofnieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, andfriends.
